St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore is a leading provider of community services to people suffering from the effects of hunger, homelessness, and poverty in Baltimore, Maryland.
Each year, over 50,000 people are helped through our comprehensive services that have a singular focus: To help build better futures for those who are struggling in poverty.
Helping people escape poverty requires a broad scope of services that reach people at their level of need. We help individuals and families with basic needs, such as food, clothing, and shelter that sustain and stabilize. We also help people regain their self-sufficiency and achieve better futures through transitional and permanent supportive housing, educational services to children and youth, and occupational skills training and job placement.
Tammy and Trejour's Story
"I really liked that she was in a safe place, and that she would be around other children sharing the same experience." - Tammy
Job loss and eviction forced Tammy and her daughter, Trejour, to move into an emergency shelter. Fortunately, Trejour had a support system, fun summer experiences and academic instruction at Camp St. Vincent.

Tammy and Trejour's story
During the summer months, children can lose up to two months of reading and math skills. Summer learning loss occurs at more than twice that rate in homeless children.
Camp St. Vincent, the only summer camp exclusively for homeless children, works to help prevent summer learning loss and to address the many social and emotional challenges caused by homelessness. More than 80% of campers either maintained or increased their reading level last year, and 85% maintained or increased their math skills. In addition to adademic instruction and fun enrichment experiences, Camp offers a curriculum that addresses the impact of homelessness on their social, and emotional development.
You can change the impact of homelessness on all aspects of a child's life by sponsoring a child, like Trejour, to attend Camp St. Vincent this summer. $38, the cost for a meal out, will send a child for a day.
Empty Bowls Thanks to the support of our sponsors, the 1,900 people who attended, and hundreds more who made bowls, donated auction items, and volunteered, we reached our goal of raising over $100,000.Click here to view photos from the event. Construction at Beans & Bread Center Construction for the improvements to the Beans & Bread Center is in full swing. The excavation is complete and work on the building’s foundation has begun. The building will begin to take shape in early Summer, and the project is expected to be completed by early 2013.
